A big fire caused by a puncture of a tanker truck, the cause and prevention of the puncture

Publish Time: 2021-12-03     Origin: Site

On the 12th of this month, an oil tanker carrying dangerous chemicals caught fire on the Yangshan County section of Qinglian Expressway, smog. At 6:35, officers and men of the fire brigade rushed to the scene to put out the fire. And use a water gun to cool the tank to reduce the concentration of oil vapor. The accident caused traffic jams on nearby roads and queues of traffic. Until 8:30, traffic resumed normally.

The driver of the tanker said that it was possible that a puncture of the tanker truck caused a short circuit of the wires and caused the fire.

The accident had to make us re-examine the problem of a puncture on a tanker truck.

Reasons for a puncture of a tanker truck:

1. Flat tires. The tire was stabbed by a sharp object and leaked air, causing the tire to blow out.

2. The air pressure of the tanker truck is too high. As the temperature of the tanker’s tires rises at high speeds, the same air pressure will also increase. The tires are deformed and the elasticity of the carcass decreases. The tanker is heavily loaded. Under such heavy load conditions, impacts will occur. A puncture occurs.

3. Insufficient air pressure of tank truck tires. When the tire pressure is insufficient and the tanker is running out of air, if the tire is aging or worn out, it will easily burst.

In hot weather, the tire pressure will increase when the vehicle is driving, which affects the safety of the vehicle. Especially for a tanker truck, if the tire blows out, it will cause serious consequences such as fire and explosion.

In the face of high temperatures, how can a tanker truck effectively prevent a puncture? Therefore, Kelin reminds all drivers to do the following:

1. Use good quality tires to avoid excessive tire wear. The service life of tires should be 2-3 years, and tires should be replaced regularly. When the tire is worn and the tread is aging, the performance of the tire will be weakened. Low-performance tires are the cause of tire bursts.

2. Don't let the tire pressure be too high when driving under high temperature. Check the tire pressure carefully before driving. At high temperatures, the tires of the tanker are in contact with the heated ground, and when the pressure of the tires of the tanker tires is high, it may cause a tire puncture. Especially high temperature is the main cause of tire blowouts.

3. Avoid long-term driving of the tanker truck and keep it in a cool place when parking.

4. When the tanker is running, it is strictly forbidden to overload, so as to avoid puncture due to overload.

5. Do not immediately sprinkle water on the tires that are still in high temperature to avoid deformation of the tires.
